What goes wrong
Cars get locked up for a handful of ordinary reasons: a key left on the passenger seat, a trunk that latches with the power closed, a key fob that stopped working when the battery died, or a cylinder that jammed after years of dirt and worn pins. We handle stuck key cylinders, electronic key fob issues, frozen locks, jammed trunk latches and broken key extraction. We work on pin tumbler and wafer-style cylinders, remote-entry modules, steering-column locks and the metal strike that holds the door shut. If something looks bent or broken, we point that out and explain the fix.

What the job involves
On arrival we assess the vehicle and pick the least-invasive way to get you back in. That can mean non-destructive entry with locksmith tools, gently manipulating the lock plug, decoding the lock to cut a working key, or, when necessary, removing a trim panel to access the latch or tailgate mechanism. We carry blank keys and cutting gear, replacement cylinders, a variety of key fob batteries and programming adapters. We drive out from Havertown and tell you when we can come so you know what to expect while you wait.

Good to know
While you wait, the safest thing you can do is stay with the vehicle or nearby and have identification and proof of ownership ready. A driver’s license and the vehicle registration or the insurance card are what we ask for if you need a new key made or the lock needs work. If the car has an alarm or immobilizer, tell us any PIN codes or the dealer’s programming notes you have. If there’s a second set of keys at home, let us know; if the fob is known to be dead, mention that so we bring the right batteries and tools.

Worth knowing
We work in Marcus Hook and nearby towns including Linwood and Trainer, and we focus on getting the mechanism back to solid, correct operation rather than temporary tricks. After entry we inspect the lock, the strike, the keyway for wear, and any control module involved, and we explain what we did and what parts, if any, should be replaced. If a cylinder or key blade is badly worn we recommend replacement with a forged core and a reinforced striker rather than repeated repairs. We leave the job clean and the lock working as it should.
