The buildings and the hardware
Paoli’s mix of older homes, newer subdivisions, and small commercial buildings shows up in the hardware people need. Older wood doors often have mortise locks or rim cylinders that require different parts and tools than modern bored locks; frames may be worn and need latch plates refitted. Apartments and condos typically use bored cylindrical locks and sometimes electronic keypads or fob-controlled entries, which means different rekeying and programming approaches. Storefronts tend to use commercial-grade cylindrical or mortise locks, sometimes with metal doors that need heavy-duty strikes. The lock type dictates whether we replace a cylinder, rekey the set, or retrofit a modern latch.
