What goes wrong
Locks fail in the ways you expect: a deadbolt that won’t throw because the bolt binds in a worn strike, a knob that spins on a stripped tailpiece, a keyed knob whose wafer pins are corroded, or a lock that jams when a warped door rubs the faceplate. We see locks with hardened cylinders drilled out for forced entry, cylinders that have been rekeyed poorly, and old latchbolts that don’t extend fully. In Upper Darby we also get calls about stuck patio locks and mailbox cylinders that slip when you turn the key.

What the job involves
When we arrive we inspect what’s actually installed: the type of cylinder, the condition of the bolt, whether the strike is reinforced, and how the door frame is holding up. We carry common domestic cylinders, deadbolts with long throws, replacement latches and door hardware that fit metal, wood, or composite doors. If picking is appropriate we pick; if components must be replaced we remove and install the new cylinder, latch or reinforced strike and test the lock several times through the full action of the door.

Good to know
While you wait it helps to have the door cleared and any children or pets secured away from the work area. We’ll ask you to confirm the name on the account and the keying arrangement if you have it, or to show proof of residence if the lockout involves a property we don’t already have on file. We can explain options to you on site: whether to rekey the existing cylinder, replace it with a higher-security profile, or add a reinforced strike and longer screws for the frame.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown and cover the surrounding area for residential jobs in Upper Darby and nearby towns like Drexel Hill or Springfield. Have the make of any smart or electronic lock ready to tell us, and bring the existing keys if you can reach them. If you have a previous keying code, key tag, or packaging for a recent lock, find that up front so we can match pins and keyways. We’ll walk you through what we’re doing and give straightforward advice on repair versus replacement before we start.
