What goes wrong
Commercial doors in offices and shops wear in predictable ways: cylinders stick from dirt, keyways bend from bad keys, latchbolts fail to deadlock, and exit devices get misaligned after heavy use. We diagnose what’s binding, whether a mortise lock needs its cam reset, or if a rim cylinder must be swapped because the tailpiece is broken. In Downingtown we see jambs split from repeated impact and strikes that have pulled away from the frame; repairing those means replacing hardware with solid bolting and refitting the strike to the reinforced frame.

What the job involves
When a keypad, card reader or electric strike acts up we trace the problem through the hardware chain: battery, wiring, relay, and the lock itself. We handle access control components and keypad units alongside mechanical parts, so we can replace a failing actuator, reset a latch on an exit device, or change the mounting for a surface-mounted closer. For master key systems we inspect pins and spacers, check for compromised keys, and rekey or convert cylinders so cores match the new keying plan we agree on.

Good to know
If a door won’t latch, the business should keep the door secured however possible and move people away from an affected exit until we arrive. We recommend having a manager or maintainer on site who knows which keys are in circulation and which doors are priority. While we work, staff should clear the swing path and, for electrical components, turn off power to the affected circuit if that’s part of your safety practice. We’ll tell you what we need from you before starting: the keys you have, any wiring diagrams or access codes, and who is authorized to sign off.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown to jobs around Chester County and work on storefronts, small warehouses, and office buildings in Downingtown and nearby Thorndale. Typical commercial fixes involve replacing cylinders, installing reinforced strikes and long-throw deadbolts, servicing exit devices and panic bars, and adjusting closers so doors meet the frame squarely. We also cut and code keys on site, fit new cores, and swap out keypad faces or batteries. Before we start, have your key lists, door numbers, and a single contact person ready so we can keep the job focused and complete.
