What goes wrong
Locked keys, a snapped key blade, a stuck fob, a jammed cylinder or a trunk latch that won’t release are the kinds of problems we see in Uwchlan Township. Often it’s a mechanical failure: worn tumblers, a bent key, or corrosion in the lock, and sometimes it’s an electronic issue with the remote. We look at what actually isn’t working rather than guessing. That means we check the key, the cylinder and the latch, then decide whether we can open the door without harming the vehicle or whether a careful extraction or access through a service panel is needed.

What the job involves
When we get to the vehicle we drive out from Havertown with a selection of picks, wedges, extraction tools, decoding devices and blanks for cutting keys on site. We start by stabilizing the door and isolating the lock mechanism, then attempt non-destructive entry methods first. If a key is broken in the ignition or door, we use extraction tools and, when necessary, remove the cylinder to preserve the lock. For vehicles with remotes we test the transmitter and battery; if the fob needs reprogramming we carry the handheld equipment to do that for many makes and models.

Good to know
While you wait, the safest thing to do is stay with the vehicle in a visible spot off the roadway or move to a nearby sheltered area and keep children and pets safe. Have the vehicle title, registration or matching key code ready on your phone or in hand so we can confirm ownership before we begin work. Tell us the vehicle make, model and year, whether the remote is with you, and whether there’s a spare key at home or elsewhere. If the key blade is damaged, leave it where it is until we examine it.

Worth knowing
After we get the door open we walk you through your options: cut a new key on site from the blank, extract and replace a damaged cylinder, repair a sticking latch or fit a replacement striker or reinforced component if the hardware is worn. We can supply and fit new blades, program remotes where the vehicle supports on-site programming, or recommend a more robust mechanical solution if the original part is compromised. We work across Uwchlan Township and nearby areas such as Lionville and Exton, and we’ll explain the tradeoffs so you can choose what’s right for the car.
