What goes wrong
Cars get locked for simple reasons: keys left on a seat, a bag thrown in the trunk, or a door that seals and won't reopen. Broken keys caught in the cylinder, worn tumblers, failed fob buttons, and push-button starters that won't accept a transponder all show up on our call sheet. We see older vehicles with solid mechanical latches and newer ones with electronic locks. In Upland we handle sedans, SUVs, light trucks and whatever locking hardware they use, starting by identifying exactly what failed so we pick the right approach.

What the job involves
A typical car lockout job begins with a quick inspection of the door, lock cylinder, latch and any electronic interface. We aim to avoid damage: we use wedges to create a gap, long-reach tools to press interior buttons, picks and tension tools for mechanical locks, and lock cylinder removal when the keyway is fouled. For trunks we may access through a rear seat or use manufacturers’ emergency releases if present. When a key is broken we extract the shaft and duplicate or cut a new blank on site when possible. We travel from Havertown to do the work where the vehicle sits.

Good to know
While we work you should stay where you can oversee the job and keep children and pets clear of the workspace. Have the vehicle title or registration and your photo ID ready so we can confirm ownership before we start. If you know the car’s key code, have it available; if you have a spare fob or a dying battery, bring that out. If the vehicle has an aftermarket alarm or steering lock, tell us so we can plan access. In Upland it helps to tell us where the car is parked and whether we can pull up beside it.

Worth knowing
Tell us the make, model, year and as much detail about the lock or key problem as you can when you call; the VIN and any dealer key information are useful if you have them. Mention whether the vehicle uses a metal key with a transponder, a foldaway blade, a push-button start, or a separate fob so we bring the right blanks and programming tools. We can often extract stuck keys, open trunks and get you back inside without cutting paint or trim. When you call, we’ll tell you honestly how soon we can come and get to work.
