What goes wrong
Cars get locked for a handful of repeat reasons: keys left on the seat, fobs with dead batteries, a key that snaps in the ignition or door cylinder, or a mechanical jam where the latch won’t move. We see worn key cuts that no longer engage the pin stacks, bent keys that catch on the shell, and remote fobs that stop sending a signal. In Swarthmore those same mechanical and electronic faults are what we diagnose first: cylinder, latch, and electronic interface, then choose the least destructive way in.

What the job involves
On site we start with a visual check of the door, lock cylinder and any visible actuator. We use wedges and long-reach tools to release manual linkages when the door gaps permit, or we pick and decode pin-tumbler and wafer-style cylinders when that’s the better option. For vehicles with keyless entry we test the fob and vehicle receiver, and when a key is missing we can cut a blank on the spot and program transponder keys when the vehicle allows. We drive out from Havertown and bring the tools you see on a service van.

Good to know
While we work you can help the job go smoothly by standing where you can point to the problem door or trunk. If you kept the vehicle registration or title inside the car, tell us; we’ll need proof of ownership before we cut or program keys. Stay nearby so we can verify vehicle details like make, model and year, and so we can match the key profile or remote to the car when it’s ready.

Worth knowing
Before we arrive have your ID and proof of ownership ready and know the exact vehicle model and year if you can. If the key broke, bring both halves if you have them; if a fob is acting up, bring any spare remotes. In cases where the ignition or steering column is involved, leave the wheel in its current position and don’t force it; that preserves the parts we may need to work on. We work on standard mechanical cylinders, wafer locks, electronic remotes and on-site key cutting and programming for vehicles in Swarthmore and nearby towns like Rutledge or Ridley Township.
